Overview
- Samoan Visual Guide
Physical Description
Samoans are extremely large, muscular mammals with whale-like, grey skin who towers over most beings at a height of 24ft or more. They are usually extremely muscular with a stout-legged, humanoid shape. Samoans have three fingers on each hand and a pair of elephant-like feet with three very short toes and toenails on the end. Their heads have some fish-like qualities, such as a dorsal-fin on the top of the head and a noseless face. Twin, fleshy, curved tusks also protrude from either side of their heads. Their teeth are quite small and come to a slight point. Lastly, they have slanted blue eyes that lack pupils.
Culture & Social
Known to marry, the species would often feel the need to choose between a simpler life or their ambitions. They also appear to be social creatures with complex social dynamics (similar to that of humans) and educate their young in places of learning like schools. As Samoans are few and far between, it's more likely that a Samoan will only know a few other Samoan as associates and hunting partners rather than big communities. Samoan settlements are far apart and dense in population, a Samoan adventurer finding themselves in another Samoan settlement is seen as a good omen and a chance to share stories from other communities.
Race Meta
- Better known as: 'Gantu's species' from Lilo & Stitch

Samoans, otherwise known as 'Gantu's Species' is a third-party race created to allow players to play an original 'Gantu'-like character in size and appearance. The race name is an in-joke in the Lilo & Stitch series where Gantu would be passed off as a Human Samoan in the eyes of imperceptive tourists. Though these Samoans don't have the sci-fi blasters or tech from the original movie or series, they're designed to be adept hunters; competent and deadly. They're twinned by their closest relative, the Loxodon race, since they're both big, burly, grey races based on animals.
Samoans are great to play as if you've ever wanted to play as Gantu and/or a giant race with natural hunting/combat skills. ...Though making an ORIGINAL Samoan is highly encouraged, use the character as a example, not a guide.
Gameplay
Samoans have the Enhanced Trample trait which basically make them bulldozing stomp-machines, similar to Loxodons, they're very dangerous up close and when they reposition. A smaller creature knocked prone will receive immense damage if a Samoan uses Stomp on them as the damage and accuracy will be magnified. However since characters can expend AP to recover from being downed and reposition in these instances, it will not always be possible for a Somoan to simply walk over and step on a smaller opponent for free.
They do, however, have the trait ability Hunter's Knack, which is similar to that of the Ranger class, enabling Samoans to get increased ToHit and Defense against specific creature types. This type of ability when used on the right creature types, can make them extremely dangerous indeed, since the ability can be used to gain an edge on opponents who would normally have the edge on them. It is INT-based, but they get to memorize at least one creature-type and a lot of archetypes give at least +1 INT to expand it further.
As a minor point, Samoans also have Cold resistance, taking less damage from ice attacks as well as functioning normally in cold areas with a temperature warning.
Roleplaying Suggestions
As Samoans are Huge-sized creatures, they favour outdoor areas and the overworld where they can exercise free movement and utilise their power fully. Against smaller foes, it may be possible to end battles more quickly by walking over them with their massive feet. But if the foe is armed and dangerous, a Samoan is smart enough to use what weapons they have on hand to take them down safely. Samoans are not afraid to walk into smaller-sized settlements if they have agency and purpose, When problems arise from mistakes and missteps with smaller races, many Samoan would argue that responsiblity shouldn't be based solely upon themselves and that smaller races have to mind their step as much as they do. Depending on the social skills of the Samoan, smaller races would be too scared to talk back or let the Samoan go since they wouldn't have the ability to make them do anything else.
Some Samoans appear adept at Leadership roles; being able to give intelligent tactical commands from a good vantage-point and their knowledge of creature types. If they have a good enough reputation with those around them, they can often rally people to their cause. Because Samoans are known for hunting both game and for bounties, they generally have a reputation for being brutal and ruthless which can affect how the average person thinks of them when one rolls into town. The actual personality and disposition of a Samoan might be completely different when they're not on a job or happen to be interested in chatting.
As Adventurers
Samoans that leave their communities are often in some way a type of adventurer, though they begin travelling alone or rarely with another Samoan, their trade is almost identical to that of a travelling adventurer. Taking jobs from those willing to pay, both mundane and risky, bounty-hunting and so on. The real Samoan adventurer begins when they start travelling in a group of other non-Samoans. If a Samoan ends up with primarily smaller races as party members, they can often feel out of place, or worse feeling belittled by taking orders from someone half or less their size. Some Samoan adventurers may decide to become the leader of the group and if denied, may build up resentment towards the group unless they begin to form a strong bond or realise there was a more suitable leader within the party.
Amongst party members closer to their size, Samoans can build bonds more easily, especially with other Samoan and Loxodons, as such they favor the Saffron Alliance races than the Cerulean Kingdom. While it's not impossible for a Samoan adventurer to journey with Vermillions, the size difference can be extreme enough that the two sides would need to set ground rules to avoid 'accidents', Samoans are not built for subtlety and usually unsafe around smaller races. Samoans tend to work very well with Viridians, as they are less bothered by their superior size, Samoans gladly accept contracts from Gargantuan and Colossal contractors, particularly for the few Samoan who physically grow large enough to become one of them.

Samoans are notoriously brutal when it comes to trampling their foes, either in the process of getting past them or purposefully crushing them beneath their feet. They're so good at it in fact that sometimes smaller allies end roughed up in the process. The size and bulk of a Samoan can impede their ability to be discreet.
♦ Benefit: Samoans can cause foes one size category smaller than themselves to be knocked away during movement, this inflicts damage equal to their unarmed strike and has a 50% chance to cause knockdown. ♦ Benefit: If the target is two size categories smaller or less: Their Stomp attack command gains a x2 bonus in damage and accuracy, this can leave the target knocked prone and pinned. ♦ Drawback: During movement, Samoans cannot safely discriminate between friend and foe, as such, movement through allied squares will be affected as if they were an enemy. ♦ Drawback: Samoan are treated as being one size larger for Stealth checks while moving around quietly. Stationary and disguise-based Stealth checks are unaffected.
Passive: Thick Hide

♦ Samoans resist Cold attack damage by 20%. Effects that cause the 'Chill' effect are negated, 'Freeze' effect is downgraded to 'Chill'. ♦ Samoans resist one stage of cold-temperature effects and thus do not suffer negative effects for Tier 2 Cold temperatures (Icy Mountain), they still suffer reduced penalties for Tier 2 cold temperatures (Raging Blizzard).
Ability: Hunter's Knack
All Samoans have a knack for studying and adapting to their prey, as such, creatures types they have encountered and memorized before can be easier for them to deal with, both hunting and self-defence.
♦ Samoans can memorize up to 1 + INT creature-types. When a Samoan's Intelligence increases by 1, they get to pick a new creature-type to memorize for this ability.
When in combat with a creature matching a memorized creature-type: ♦ Samoans gain a +50 ToHit bonus to their attacks against creature-type, ♦ A +0.5 bonus to Defense and Evasion against creature-type.
The list of creature-types a Samoan can memorize is: ♦ Humanoid ♦ Xeno ♦ Goblinoid ♦ True-Giant ♦ Supernatural ♦ Demonoid ♦ Reptile ♦ Mechanical ♦ Non-Giant (Creatures smaller than a Samoan, half-bonus) ♦ Giant (Creatures equal or bigger than a Samoan, half-bonus)
(If a creature has multiple types, only the highest bonus counts, types do not stack)
Hunter's Knack: Skill Perks
For each Skill Rank in Potential, a Samoan can select a new Skill Perk that applies to the Hunter's Knack ability. Once Potential is at Master (100) rank, Hunter's Knack skill perks can be obtained by spending perk points.
