Overview
- Golian Visual Guide: Longstrider, Broadback, Roundback
Physical Description
Golians highly resemble humans of exaggerated proportions and size. From the improbably tall to the enormously wide, Golians appear to have strong body-morphic bias, enough to separate Golians into multiple castes. Longstriders and Broadstriders use their tall and athletic forms to maximize agility while making use of their great size and weight. Broadbacks and Roundbacks have enormous thick frames and heavy limbs to become walking tanks.
Culture & Social
Golian culture can be described as ‘highly impressionable’, they often adopt the useful customs and traditions of other races and make it their own, they adapt well with others whether it is for their benefit or their own. Golians employ the use of costumes and mask-wearing as a way to express themselves in a way they want others to see them and exchanging gifts that correspond to a Golian’s sense of self helps form even stronger bonds between them.

Racial Adjustments & Archetypes
Golian
Golians have a wide variety of sizes and shapes, but what can be considered true in all their forms is that their boundless imagination and enthusiasm drives them to seek ambitions and careers with intensity. They're highly impressionable.
♦ Golians gain a +1 attribute bonus to Strength and Endurance, they also gain +2 attribute points they can distribute to any stat they desired. (This stacks with the 1 attribute point granted at creation). ♦ Golians also gain a bonus Skill-Focus to any skill group they desire. (This stacks with the 1 Skill-Focus granted at creation). ♦ Golians are considered Huge-sized: they have a size-rating of 4.
Archetype: Big-Friendly
Golians are seen as the most friendly and relatable of the giants in Saffron, however many are genuine in their actions, others can also use this to their advantage.
♦ This Golian gains a +2 attribute bonus to Charisma. ♦ They also gain a Skill-Focus in all Social skills. ♦ NPCs that favour Humans and Humanoids will gain +0.5x positive reputation and +0.5x negative reputation.
Archetype: Serious
Some Golians have a more pragmatic and mature approach to living, usually as they get older they start to act like a human rather than a child. However serious they become, they still enjoy playing with their toys.
♦ This Golian gains a +2 attribute bonus to Intelligence. ♦ They also gain a Skill-Focus in all Social and Defence skills.
Traits
Passive: Golian-Type
The player must decide which type of giant their Golian character will possess, this choice is permanent and cannot be easily changed, choose one sub-trait to overwrite Golian-Type:
Longstrider This Golian gains the Longstrider Body-type: They are naturally tall, lean but sturdy and nimble, a humanoid of immense but ideal proportions, their space is narrow and oval-shaped. ♦ Longstriders gain a +10 Elusivity bonus to Defence. (After Foe's ToHit is divided by Longstrider's Deflection/Evasion, final ToHit is reduced by 10 by Elusivity). ♦ Longstriders are considered to be one size smaller for the purpose of Stealth checks. ♦ Longstriders gain a base 20% movement speed bonus.
Broadback This Golian gains the Broadback Body-type: They are naturally broad, deep and heavily-built like a behemoth, their space is oversized and cuboid-shaped. ♦ Broadback Golians gain a +50% bonus to their size-rating. They are treated as being Size 6 as a Huge-sized creature. ♦ A Broadback Golian's extreme body shape increases the cost of outfit customization by 50%.
Roundback This Golian gains the Roundback Body-type: They are naturally broad, deep and rounded like a Sumo-wrestler. Their space is oversized and spherical in shape. ♦ Roundback Golians gain a +50% bonus to their size-rating. They are treated as being Size 6 as a Huge-sized creature. ♦ They also gain a +1 attribute bonus to Endurance due to their excess body mass. ♦ Roundback Golians suffer a -2 attribute penalty to Agility and suffer a 50% movement speed penalty. ♦ Roundback Golians cannot fit into a space narrower than their own space. They are also considered to be in squeezing status when entering and moving through enclosed areas equal to their own space. ♦ Roundback Golians prevent any unit, friendly or hostile, from moving through their space. (Normally: Creature smaller than the user can move underneath them during movement). ♦ A Roundback Golian's extreme body shape increases the cost of outfit customization by 50%.
