Dr. Spectra, The Fighting Pokémon Researcher
Doctor Miriam Spectra is a Researcher who specialises in Engineering, unlike most researchers she partakes missions to study and battle as a Pokémon Trainer. A specialist in Technical Machines and Genetics, she wishes to document all known moves into TMs and help cure Pokemon from Elemental Hypersensitivity. She carries a team of primarily Fighting-Type Pokémon, juxtaposing her scientific background, but her Pokémon were adopted after their original trainer, and her lover, died n a tragic accident.
Experiments and Studies
Elemental Hypersensitivity and the EH-Treatment
Dr. Spectra discovered a psycho-physiological reaction when Pokémon were exposed to specific stimuli, she found that many Pokémon suffer from a type of allergic reaction called 'Elemental Hypersensitivity', the pokémon's body attempting to protect itself from type weaknesses but ends up stressing the creature mentally and physically, resulting in premature fainting. Using her Pokémon as a basis, she was able to identify the key triggers in this response and created a machine in order to treat the condition.
The Treatment was a success, though the treatment did not remove the Pokémon's weaknesses, she observed a 25% decrease in vitality loss when exposed to super-effective moves, changing the multiplier from 2.0x to 1.5x. In addition: Pokémon with dual-typing were no longer doubly-affected by double-effective moves, as an Onix was observed to sustain only 1.5x damage from a Super-effective Water move instead of 2.0x or 4.0x. Lastly the treatment prevented pokemon from being weak to their own type, as such, her own Macross (Fighting/Steel) was still super affected by Fire and Ground moves but was no longer weak to Fighting moves.
Pokémon Size and the Growth Candies
Dr. Spectra studied the effects of performance-enhancing nutrients to her pokémon, spending months catching pokémon to acquire specific 'Candy' for genetic and chemical analysis. In this time she was able to compile a good sample size to determine the smallest and largest pokémon in the wild as well as a means to producing special candies known as 'Mystery Candy'. A single gumball-sized does could accelerate a single Pokémon's growth potential, observed to be +1000 extra experience, per level, in addition to normal experience gains (1:1). It also increases the pokémon's combat stats overnight, increasing all stats by a minimum of 4 Awakening values (AV), 48 AVs in all. Though the candies could only be produced in small amounts per day, they could be all consumed in on sitting, though the more that was consumed the more pronounced the changes.
Physical growth in the Pokémon was observed within hours of the initial dose, a single candy increasing its overall size; height and weight, over the course of several hours. The pokemon's personality and behaviors remains the same despite the increased size bestowed to them. The Mystery Candy was capable of inducing Gigantism in Pokémon with little to no ill effects.
Dr. Spectra's Pokémon
The majority of Dr. Spectra's team are Fighting Types, except for Kurrage who is Fighting/Normal and Mekoidies which is Psychic. All the pokémon have undergone the 'Elemental Hypersensitivity Treatment', minimising the impact of Super-Effective weaknesses. Additional genetic alterations have given to new forms including Mega and Alternate Evolutions not found in the wild. Though she and the other pokemon are on good terms, she is not the original trainer who caught them, thus there has been difficulty in coordinating battles without the assistance of her Abra, Mekoides.
Macross (Machoke/Macross)
Kaush (Primeape)
Kix (Hitmonlee)
Toru (Hariyama)
Kurrage (Kurrage)
Mekoides (Abra)
A quiet but unusually large Abra that can be often found by Dr. Spectra's side. It hangs in the backline while it's burlier team-mates do the heavy lifting. Mekoides was the first Pokémon that Dr. Spectra legitimately caught after it presented itself to the grieving Doctor. Despite being rare and hard to catch, it neither teleported to safety or resisted capture. This pokemon was able to convince her lover's pokemon to obey Dr. Spectra's orders with telepathy which the other Pokémon responded to warmly. Mekoides was one of the first Pokémon to undergo the effects of Mystery Candy and have its sized increased along with its overall power, in order to test the limits of the Candy's effect it consumed them until it fully awakened, and became a Giant Pokémon. Though it suffers the usual problems of being overlarge, its innate ability to Teleport helps it pass through gaps too small for its body to fit.
Despite its size and passiveness, Dr. Spectra and Mekoides have a bond that extends to the other pokémon, as though guided by a wiser force in the guiding of pokemon in battle. It has Partner Assist which can give Dr. Spectra and the other Pokémon useful benefits in battle: Once per battle, Mekoides can use Lightscreen or Reflect, even if they are not the active pokemon and still allow her active pokemon to use a move.
